Suggest Treatment For Severe Neck Pain, Headache, Sore Throat, Cough And Laryngitis

Hello doctor. I am a 38 year old female. I have been sick for the past four weeks with what I thought was a cold. I have had severe neck pain, headaches, sore throat, congestion, coughing and now laryngitis. I do not seem to be getting well, even though I have been resting. I'm wondering if I need to consider something more serious at this point, such as mono or a bacterial infection?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of severe neck pain, headache, sore throat, cough and laryngitis, well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to many reasons but it seems to me that these symptoms probably occur due to sinusitis and postnasal drip. Infection from respiratory tract has travelled down to larynx as well and causing laryngitis and voice hoarseness. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles several times a day. You should take steam twice a day. You should do tepid sponging if it is severe headache. Take paracetamol for fever and headache. Consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis . Doctor may order test like swab test , blood test , and viral culture test to rule out condition like acid reflux and strep throat . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxiclav at least for 10 days along with decongestant. Maintain proper hygiene. Drink plenty of water and liquids.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
