Suggest Treatment For Severe Nerve Pain While Having Shingles
I am currently suffering from shingles. The rash is on the left side of my body. I had the shingles vaccine in 2012. The rash Raps around my abdomen under my breast and continues to the middle of my back. I have no fever and currently on anti-viral medication . I m having severe nerve pain shooting through My left ear. No drainage from the ear, just repeated severe pain. Could this possibly be from the shingles virus inflaming a nerve in my ear?
Shingles causes inflammation of nerve causing severe pain. It occurs during active phase of infection as well as after subsidence of active lesions due to post – herpetic neuralgia. It is a complication of shingles. Virus has affected a large part of your nerve causing widespread pain including ear pain. This is due to common innervation (referred pain). Advice 1. Complete the course of anti-viral drugs as suggested by your doctor 2. You can also apply calamine lotion locally three times daily for 10 days. It will provide soothing effect 3. You can take tramadol and amitriptyline per oral if pain is intolerable. These are prescription based medicine. Consult your doctor so that he might prescribe it 4. Methylcobalamin 500 mcg once daily per oral for 3 months 5. Do not take mental stress as it aggravates shingles I hope this information will help you. I will be happy if you ask another question Thanks
