Hi my 5yr old son has his tonsils and adenoids removed a week ago today. He s been doing really well but the past few nights he has been in agony, uncontrollable crying, won t let me touch him, cold but sweaty, complaining of ear ache and pain in his cheek which looks a tad swollen to me. Iv also noticed more swollen lymph nodes in his neck (he already had a cluster of enlarged nodes 2yrs before this op) he is also still struggling to talk :( I don t k ow what to do next? Please help!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I think your child needs further examinations to be done.

He may have Epstein–Barr virus and mononucleosis is suspected.

A total blood count should be done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
