Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In Spine Due To Fibromyalgia

I have 3bulging disks they seem to be getting larger & with the largest one @ 5m & have been told now that I also have fibromyalgia 16 out of 18 points. Just recently was feeling better until I bent down to put something in a lower drawer & could not move. Never have been the same since. I am doing water therapy with severe pain & just do not know what to do. Pain management is not controlling the pain with Tylenol 4. My only hope now is orthopedic Dr. I guess??? Any suggestions please?

Hello,

You have a history of fibromyalgia, now you are experiencing severe pain in the spine after bending down to put something in the drawer. The pain in the spine can be due to wrong posture when bending down. It can be muscle strain or sprain in the spinal ligaments. Medical conditions that cause such symptoms are slipped disc, spinal stenosis and sciatica or arthritis, etc.

You are suggested to get clinically examined by an orthopedics. Get blood tests, urinalysis & imaging tests done to detect the pathology causing you discomfort. You will be treated accordingly. In the meantime, you can apply pain relieving sprays (Volini) for relief. You can apply or get a gentle massage done with a pain relieving ointment. You can use hot water bags for pain relieve. Take NSAIDS, Combiflam or Naproxen, one SOS after food to ease pain.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
