Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In The Ankles

i have a pretty severe ankle sprain from something falling on my ankle. the area above my ankle is badly bruised including having 2 deep black bruises from the area that sustained the brunt of the weight. The area feels a lot of pressure, has been blistering and is now exuding pus. I went to the emergency room a couple days ago but they did not seem concerned.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I would like to give some tests and some medicines. Tests to be given are:

1. MRI of the Ankle.
2. Complete Blood Tests

I would like to start this antibiotic medication:

Ciprofloxacin 500 mg twice (morning and evening) daily for 7 days. For Pain, take Paracetamol 500 mg, every 6 hours, daily for 7 days.

Other guidelines to follow:

Wash your hands before you care for your blister to help prevent infection. Use soap and water. Wash your hands often, and after you use the bathroom, change a child's diapers, or sneeze.

Clean your blister as directed. Carefully remove your bandage. If the bandage sticks to your blister, pour saline on it.

This will help the bandage come off more easily and prevent further skin damage. Wash the blister area with soap or saline and water. Gently pat the area dry.

Apply clean bandages as directed. Change your bandages when they get wet, dirty, or soaked with fluid.

Your healthcare provider may tell you to use certain moist bandages or hydrogels to prevent them from sticking to your wound.

You may need a bandage that absorbs well if your blister has excess fluid. You may be told to wear a second bandage for extra protection. Take medicine for pain as directed.

Please post the Test results and the after effect of drug treatment, so that any doctor from healthcaremagic.com can tell you what to do next. Do not worry as you are under our good treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
