Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband 75 received a regular allergy shot 3 weeks ago. Six hours later he had severe pain in right arm. Pain in right arm continued for two weeks. Last Saturday night pain increased and moved into his chest waking him at 3 a.m. We decided it could be a pending heart attack and went to the ER. (1st time ever). Thorough heart check .. No apparent issue. Went to G.P. Tuesday. Said wait 2 more weeks to see if it goes away. Today is Thursday, pain in right arm is still at same intensity . It is now across chest to left arm with shooting pain down to his hand. Feels weak and lousy. (Unusual). He is taking 2 aspirin every 6 hours with some slight relief for awhile. Can t take a NSAID. I think it is some nerve problem but he is very miserable. I am looking for a better answer. Any ideas? Can t go back to doc for another 10 days. Thank you.
Regular allergy shots may not be a reason and heart attack has been excluded also.
I would advise having a lab test for vitamin B12 as it's responsible for muscle pain mostly. It may be due to nerve compression also. You can take oil massage of the shoulder. If still persist, have a checkup with an orthopedic surgeon.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
