Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 85 year old mother fell Thursday a.m. She was holding to walker and legs gave way and she sat down hard on carpeted floor. Has a firm goose egg shaped lump on her right buttock plus some bruising. She had X-ray at nursing home that was negative for fracture or break. She is in severe pain when walking or sitting. Should I take her to emergency? She cannot have MRI due to pacemaker
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM Since a fracture has already been eliminated, the pain is due to soft tissue injury due to the fall like muscle stress/strain.I will suggest you try the following: -Regular cleaning of the bruises on her buttocks and good hygiene to prevent infection -Let her take a pain/antiiflammatory drug like aceclofenac -Rest well -Ice pack placement or heat regularly may help reduce pain -A local pain gel like votarene may also help If pains persist with these measures, you see the Doctor for evaluation. Hope this will help Best regards
