Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have osteo. . .due for surgery around tail bone. Pain is at night when I get up to go to the bathroom and I sometimes have to walk like an upside down letter L to avoid pain and bladder leakage. Any alternatives to surgery such as extra exercise, (elliptical) diet
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. I understand your concerns. This is called coccidynia and this is common condition. The goal of coccydynia treatment is usually to reduce pain by keeping pressure off of the tailbone, easing inflammation or muscle tension that add to pain, or reducing pain signals to the brain using medication. A combination of treatments and activity modification usually suffices to control or alleviate tailbone pain and usually medications, physical therapy and steroid injections are sufficient for pain control. Surgery is the last option but may be considered in severe cases. I hope I have answered you query Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
