Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In The Left Arm While On Gabapentin
My mother was started on gamapentin at the ER last nite by a Dr that felt her extreme pain on the left arm only may be the stage before a breakout of shingles. morphine did nothing for her pain in the Er M question is what is a low dose and an upper limit dose for this medication?

Hi,
Gabapentin is quite good for neuropathic pains. Its dose is generally started with 300 mg once daily and increased every day.
It can be increased up to 2 tablets (600) 3 times, which generally works.
Though the maximum dose may be up to 3 to 4 times that's rarely needed.
