Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In Wrist After Lifting Heavy Object

I picked up a fairly heavy box a few days ago and heard a pop in my wrist right where it meets my hand. It was very painful and has been since. I am finding the normal things I do, I can t do. it has been swollen since shortly after, now there is a bruise about 3 inches in diameter. I have been treating with ice and not using it. Will this heal on it s own or do I need to see a doctor?

Hello,

Chances of fracture is less, but there is chance of dislocation. Still XRAY WRIST JOINT (AP and LATERAL) should be done. There is chance of soft tissue injury as well. Cold compression and an anti-inflammatory drug (SOS) can be taken.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Ankana Chakraborty
