Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain On Side Of Waistline

I have severe pain in the left side about my waistline. In Jan 2012 I had 10 inches of my sigmoid colon removed and I have had endoscopies that show raw places in my stomach but no treatment seems to work. I have pain bloating and gas when the pain ocures. What kind of specialist should I see next?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Presence of raw places in stomach is suggestive of ulcers in stomach.
Ulcers are associated with gastritis, increased acidity, bloating, pain in epigastrium, reflux etc.
The symptoms that you have mentioned are possibly due to ulcers.
Management of ulcer consists of treatment which heals these ulcers and then subsequently prevents formation of new ulcers.
You need to consult a gastroenterologist for management of the ulcers.
The cause of removal of sigmoid colon also needs to be known, however, the current symptoms are unlikely to be due to any problem of colon.

Thanks and take care
