Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain On Stomach

Hello. I have been into urgent care twice over the last few months for the same thing. I have severe pain in my left side for what feels like a tennis ball sized area and it hurts to put pressure on my stomach, it almost feels as if my intestines are swollen. All Kaisers told me is to drink more water, put a heating pad on it and take some pain meds. The pain usually last anywhere from 7-10 days then goes away. Something is not right. The dr thought maybe gal bladder but I dont have a fever when this happens just chills.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Abdominal pain can be caused by colitis, diverticulitis or vascular disorders. I would suggest you to take an ultrasound abdomen and renal pelvis in order to identify the cause of pain. Other causes to rule out are gallbladder and pancreatic diseases. Any history of greenish vomiting can indicate gall bladder stones or disease. Drugs and procedures are available to solubilize the stones.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
