Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain On The Right Side Of Buttocks

I have been having quite severe pain on my right side from my buttocks, down outside of my leg to my feet.I can t sleep on either side or my back due to pain. I have modified my activities greatly. the worst pain starts around 9pm and continues until 7 or 8 am. Therefore I am very sleep deprived. My Dr. is giving me a cortisone shot in my right leg on Aug.22. I had X-rays several years ago which showed deterioration in my lumbar spine area. I feel I should have a X-ray done of my back now,or a MRI. I would like to know exactly what is going on .before I proceed with further procedures. My Dr wants me to go for physioWhat do you think after the cortisone shot.

Oncologist 's  Response
Hi,

Hold the hot or cold pack to the affected area for about 15 minutes at a time. Do gentle stretches of your legs, hips, and buttocks. Rest to give the injury time to heal. Take over-the-counter pain relievers, such as naproxen (Aleve) or ibuprofen (Advil).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Monish De, Oncologist
