Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain Radiating Down Right Arm Causing Weakness
I have been having severe pain radiating down my right arm. Starts at my shoulder and goes to my wrist. It started last night after I finished typing some letters on my computer, but it was just a soreness. But today it has progressively gotten worse. Any movement is painful and my right arm is very weak. It s hard for me to move my mouse. I didn t strain it, fall on it or any extreme movement that might have caused a muscle cramp. So, what s your best guess? If it was my left arm, then I d be concerned. Thanks. Steve Wright
Based on your history, your right arm pain has occurred due to muscle soreness and strain. Muscle strain, tendon inflammation or nerve compression, neuropathies can cause wrist pain or cramps. Fine motor actions such as writing can also be affected. These changes may not be visible in X-rays. Rest to the hand, pain killers and hot compress can reduce the discomfort. Splints or braces may be required to immobilize the wrist and ensure early recovery.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
