Hello,
Shoulder pain that radiates to the rib cage and is associated with vomiting may be indicative of
cholecystitis, gallstones, heart attacks, pan-coast tumor,
pancreatitis,
acid reflux, etc. You are suggested to get your husband clinically examined by a GP, get all blood workouts and imaging tests done to detect the pathology (gallstones, liver issues, tumor, developing CAD, etc) causing you discomfort.
In the meantime, he can take
Ibuprofen and Naproxen, one SOS to ease the pain. He can take anti-emetics for relieve from vomiting. Get him treated at the earliest. His treatment by medicines or surgery will depend on the severity of the symptoms and pathology detected. Give him semi solid food that can be easily digested in small amounts. Avoid giving raw fruits or veggies. He can take soups or warm beverages & should stay well hydrated.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
