Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain When Diagnosed With Metastatic Breast Cancer

Hi, I have metastatic breast cancer in my bones and liver. I am on 15mg morphine two times daily. And 20mg oxycodone 4 times daily. I have been on this dosage since February 2015. My pain medicine is no longer working. Why? Doctors have suggested that I go on Fentanyl. I am scared of that medicine. Are there any other options for me to get pain relief. I am 52 years old. Female.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It is cancer pain.

Opioid analgesics like morphine may be required.

Consult an oncologist and he will direct you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
