Suggest Treatment For Severe Pancreatitis In A Diabetic Patient
Ii recently was in the ICU with an acute attack of severe pancreatits. This occured at the ending of a 3 week bout with the flu. My blood sugar was 2279 when I was admitted to the ER. I am now at home taking insulin and trying to get over this. What can you tell me about any of this? Do you have any idea what the recovery time may be? I have a ton of questions.
Hi, Acute pancreatitis is a medical emergency condition despite you are diabetic or not. He should be immediately evacuated with higher antibiotics with other supportive and fluid electorlyte replacment, if you are diabetic with uncontrolled sugar then it could be due to acute pancreatic cells inflammation. After treatment I would suggest to take insulin or oral hypoglycemics with strict avoidance of sugar in diet means strictly control your blood sugar. There might be more chances of uncontrolled diabetics to get this type of infection easily. The complete recovery time may be 7 to 10 days after discharge from hospital, till you should take complete bed rest. Always follow your doctor's advise.
