Suggest Treatment For Severe Rashes On The Chest And Back While On Keflex

I had tummy tuck surgery almost two weeks ago. Dr. prescribed Keflex. Just today started having a very itchy rach around my midsection, chesk and back. Should I stop taking it and what can I do for the rash that is driving me crazy without interfering with my incision?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

Keflex is an antibiotic and itchy rashes after taking it are one of the most common presentation of allergic reaction..
Yes, you should stop taking it and switch to different antibiotics but only after consulting your surgeon.
For now you can take anti-allergics like Benadryl or Claritin to reduce itching and rashes.
You can apply Calamine or Caladryl lotion to soothe the skin and relieve itching..
Do cool compresses over the rashes..

Hope this helps you..

Regards.
