Suggest Treatment For Severe Rashes On The Chest, Face And Shoulder

I developed a moderate to severe rash on my chest, stomach, face, and shoulder within 24 hours of taking medroxyprogrestrone. My gyne prescribed it for 10 days to try to start my periods back up since my blood test showed I wasn t through menopause yet. Is it possibly a side effect of that medicine? I e had 2 visits to a prompt care with 2 cortisone shots and a round of prednisone. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think you should stop the pills you were taking because it may have shown an allergic reaction. Also you may need to take antihistamines such Benadryl or Cetirizine. You have done two cortico-steroid shots but if any swelling stars go to ER.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka , General & Family Physician
