Suggest Treatment For Severe Shingles

Thank you.My fiance.has a serious case of shingles and is in his 6th week of pain and suffering.He has been to his primary physiciian, er, rthopedic surgeon, dermatologist (who diagnosed Bill.)He s scheduled to see a different orthopedist Monday.I m sure you ll have questions.Whatever thoughts.you might have are greatly appreciated.

Hello and thanks for your question. It sound like he has developed postherpetic neuralgia, a painful condition that persists after the initial shingles outbreak. Medications used to treat this are gabapentin, lyrica and sometimes even narcotics if the pain is severe. He needs to carefully explain the condition to his doctors so that they can relieve his pain.
