Suggest Treatment For Severe Shooting Pain In The Knees

Hello,
I have been having some leg problems lately and I really don't know why. It first started on the inner side of my left knee. there was shooting pain throughout the day rather i was sleeping, standing, sitting, etc. Heat seemed to help... few days later, the pain went away.
Then maybe a little over a week later the same pain came back but on the inner side of my right leg between my ankle and knee
And now...i can't straighten my left knee without a terrible pain.
I would go to my doctors, but i really don't even know what to tell them about my pains.
I am working on becoming a personal trainer but i don't do anything that is too hard on the knees...and haven't injured myself in any way these past few weeks

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have evere shooting pain in the knees . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like osteoarthritis , tendinitis , chondromalacia patella , gout , baker’s cyst , rheumatoid arthritis , meniscus tear or bone tumors. Wrong posture or physical injury can also be the cause . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic before its gets more complicated and define as it is . Doctor will examine physically , test movements , take history and order CT scan or MRI . Doctor may prescribe drugs like orthodox MR , methotrexate , gabapentine , llopurinol and anti inflammatory . Doctor may also recommend physical therapy or surgery in severe damage . For now take proper rest , apply warm compresses to knees and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
