Suggest Treatment For Severe Shortness Of Breath During Pregnancy
I have an aunt with severe asthma who is pregnant and ready to give birth, but the doctors didn t proceed to do that because she had a bad fever and stopped breathing few days back, she is on oxygen and her fever went down but the doctors are saying the her breathing isnt getting better. What do i do?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern for your aunt. Asthamatic attack during near term pregnancy can cause more breathing problems as pressure of the abdomen due to increased size of uterus directly restricts respiratory movements. It appears from your description that she is undergoing treatment for the episode. Once her vital signs and respiration gets stabilized, the doctors would decide the next course of management. Till then, have patience and just hope that she would recover soon. Doctor's are avoiding any intervention at this stage as it would be risk for her life. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
