Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having some normal sinus pressure symptoms but what s unusual for me (I m 68) is over my right eye (across the eyebrow area) I feel a strong tightening/numbing sensation when I touch or raise that area as a facial expression. It s more noticeable when I first wake up and then in the evening. I don t have any constant pain or pressure in that area; it s only if I touch or move that area and then it goes away. I ve had this symptom for a couple of weeks and otc sinus/allergy pills haven t eliminated it.
I suggest you seek advice from a physician as this may not be a sinus related issue.
In the meantime, to relieve the numbness you feel, you can try steaming your face and then icing it or just relaxing with a cold compress mask over the sinus and eye area.
These symptoms do not seem usual for a sinus problem and neurological causes should be assessed for.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Kathy Shattler, Dietitian & Nutritionist
