Suggest Treatment For Severe Sore Throat And Swallowing Difficulty

My throat is so sore and it hurts to swallow. I had a strep test done yesterday and it came back negative and the 24 hour culture one did also. The doctor i saw said she thought it was probably viral and had to run its course. I have taken ibuprofen and tried Tylenol and neither one will help with the pain. What else can i be doing to help?? I have also gargled salt water with no help....

If the 24 hours culture is also negative then it is probably Viral throat infection only..

Yes, it is true that virus runs its course and can take for about 5-7 days to resolve completely..

You should continue taking Ibuprofen and Tylenol combination and along with it you can also gargle with numbing mouthwash like Lidocaine..
You should also suck throat lozenges and continue doing warm saline gargles..

Also chew a Vitamin C pellet daily..
