Suggest Treatment For Severe Stomach Pain

My son-in-law is experience severe stomach pain. He was at the ER yesterday, and they did blood work and did a urine test, but did not find anything. He went to Urgent Care a week ago and they put him on Augmentin for a sinus infection, but he said his stomach hurt prior to that. He was still running a low-grade fever yesterday, but the ER doctor said his bloodwork didn t indicate an infection. He doesn t have a regular doctor and to get him in as a new patient will take months. He said his pain runs both sides of his abdomen. Any suggestions?

Hi,Dear,Thanks for your query to HCM.
Dear I read facts of your query and reviewed it in context to your query health issues.
I understood your health concerns and feel Concerned about them.
Based on the facts of your query the reply of your query is-
It could be -IBS with amebiasis/ giardiasis.
The Augmentine seems to have no causative rule as facts of your query, confirm that this stomach pain was there with even before starting Augmentin.Still you should keep diarrhease/ or increased mobility , post Augmentin, causing or mainaining Stomach Pain.
If need be have Second opinion from GI Physician and investigate if need be.
But in the absence of other information,I would suggest you to go for GI Physician's Consults,As the facts could be different from what you submitted.
So looking in to the sensitive complaint of yours,I would suggest you to rule out abnormal Stool causing amebic / giardial infestation, by Consulting and investigating with GI Physician doctor.
It would be prudent to have physical Check from Consulting Physician first and GI Physician and GI Endoscopist, before planning further investigations and treatment for it.
Other causes need to be ruled out in any case.

Do's -suggested for your case-
Check with Family Physician and thereafter with Consulting Physician and then with GI Physician and GI Endoscopist if need be.
Don't miss to have checks for abnormal bacterial / protozoal flora, to rule out any causes related to severe Stomach pains
Keep your diet Bland / non-spicy and semi-liquid with less of solids - like rice porridges / and Thin Skimed Butter Milk- x 2 times a day x 2 weeks.
Supplements with Antispasmodic and anti-protozoal- like Tab- metrogyl 400 mg x 3 times a day
And Vit B12 and Folic Acid- to recoup entero-colic stability and recovery.

Just don't worry and be patient and co-operate with your doctors, till you verify with your attending doctors.
Need to Check with Consulting Surgeon and Physician and GI Endoscopist -specialist if need be, if things don't recover.

-Other causes need to be verified with your family GP /Consulting GI Physician and Surgeon / and GI Endoscopist -Specialist doctors, as the facts may be different what you submitted.

-For this Second opinion from PCP-or Gp doctor and with Consulting GI Physician and Surgeon and Endoscopist- specialist-is needed who would do proper investigation after proper physical assessment to resolve your health issues.
-for early recovery-please follow above do's which would resolve your complex health issues.

Hope this would help you to treat your health issues in the best way possible.

Welcome for any further query in this regard.
Good Day!!
