Suggest Treatment For Severe Sunburns On Back, Shoulders, Stomach And Thighs

Hello. Today I went to the beach and got a pretty bad sunburn on my back, shoulders, stomach and thighs, which is normal for me as I burn very easily. However, now that I m home a couple hours later, I m shaking and feel kind of weak, specifically my legs. I m just wondering if this is a typical side effect of sunburns or if it s something unrelated.

Hi.
I've gone through your query and I can understand your anxiety.

Your symptoms might be due to sunburn or Heat stroke /Heat cramps/ Heat fever. Mild to severe sunburn & it's effects might lasts for 3-7days.

I advice you,
- Tab.ibuprofen or Paracetamol for pain, swelling, redness and discomfort.
- Shift to a cool room & cold sponging or take frequent cool baths till the burning Sensation settles
- maintain electrolyte balance by increased intake of salt & fluids
- Moisturizer to soothen the sunburned skin & allow blisters if any to heal

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care.

Regards,
Dr. Yogapriya V, General and family physician.
