Suggest Treatment For Severe Swelling And Pain In Legs And Feet

I saw a Specialist Rhuematologist and they said I have level 3 edema--they referred me to a vein specialist but he is booked for 3 weeks. The sweeling is so bad, is my feet, legs and not thighs. Last night I laid on my back and it s like it stopped my breathing I was unable to get air in or out. I was able to turn to my side to catch my breath. the pain is horrible and I can barely walk. I m scared about what happened last night. What do you suggest I do in the mean time of seeing the vein specialist?

The cause of edema of the legs and feet is right heart failure, congestive cardiac failure, kidney dysfunction, severe grade of varicose veins, blocked lymphatics, severe hypothyroidism, or filariasis in endemic regions. You need to undergo few investigations like serum creatinine, BUN, complete blood picture, ESR, thyroid function tests, and 2D echocardiography.

You also need thorough clinical examination in person. My advice to you would be to check for an appointment with a cardiologist. Lie in left lateral or right lateral position instead of supine. Avoid exertion of all kind. Try to meet the cardiologist as soon as possible.
