Suggest Treatment For Severe Tension Headaches

I need an alternative to butalbital/fioricet. I ve been on it for 13+ years for extremely bad tension headaches. I was in a car wreck at around 17 yo & my herniated discs went undiagnosed for 15 years & all of the muscle spasms in my neck, shoulders, & head give me 24/7 pain & horrible headaches. Now the fda has reduced the amount from 8 tabs/day to 6...not only can I not cut back, I actually need more bc I have built up a tolerance. It s the ONLY thing that has helped.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

You can take analgesics like Acetaminophen or Tramadol for pain relief. Avoid sleep deprivation and unwanted anxiety and they can provoke headache. If symptoms persist, you can consult a neurologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query.
