Suggest Treatment For Severe Throat Pain With Cough And Headaches

Hi Dr, I am having severe throat pain, cough, headache, bad dry cough (with white sputum), a body temperature of 100F since last evening. This is the 2nd episode in last 10days. During 1st episode, I had Aith romancing for 3 days, followed by Mucolite-SR for 1 week, which had given relief. Kindly help with your advice. Regards Raju

Hello,

You are suffering from severe throat pain with cough and headaches. You are also mildly febrile. You are suggested to take adequate water and fluids to stay comfortable. Gargle your throat with warm salt water 2-3 times a day. Keep cough lozenges in the mouth to prevent drying of the mucosa. Stay comfortable in a room with room humidifier. Avoid getting exposed to hot and dry environment.

To get rid of fever , pain, headache, soreness you can take Acetaminophen, one SOS when required. Take sips of water throughout the day. Taking antihistamine and mucolytics will help. Get clinically examined by a GP, get throat swab test, sputum examination done.

if you are affected by bacterial infection you will be treated with a course of oral antibiotics. Take liquid food or semi solid food so that you do not hurt your throat mucosa. Give voice rest. Stay away from addictions if any.
