Suggest Treatment For Severe Tongue And Cheek Biting In Sleep

Should I go see a doctor or a dentist? I keep biting my tongue and cheeks in my sleep. Now I have very sore mouth. I even wear a mouth guard at night now. Mouth is very sore and feels almost like I have burnt it (the feelING You get when you burn your tongue.

Well, Tongue biting during sleeping can occur due to causes like a large tongue or Macroglossia, Night seizure, Rythm movement disorders, teeth grinding or bruxism..

I would suggest you to the an Oral Physician and get evaluated so that the cause of the tongue and cheek biting can be ruled out and Treatment can be done accordingly..
In case if it is due to some psychological or neurological problems then appropriate referral can be done..

Many a times Behavioural Cognitive therapy and soft cushioned custom made mouthgag can give appropriate results..
As of now to relieve tongue pain and inflammation you can start gargling with Lidocaine mouthwash, suck ice pops and avoid spicy and very hot foods..
