Suggest Treatment For Severe Toothache

I have severe toothache in one of my lower molars which had root treatment 2 years ago. Dentist has found an infection in this tooth and suggests removal as further root treatment is not possible. My question is will an extraction completely clear this infection and having suffered daily lightheadedness can this be connected to the infected tooth. I am also due to fly on holiday next weekend is this enough time following an extraction?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of severe toothache which seems to be due to systemic infection. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to visit dentist once and get IOPA( X-RAY) done to check extent of infection as chances of bone involvement is there. Yes you can go for extraction of tooth if that is only possible option and your symptoms will subside. Take proper course of Ibuprofen and Diclofenac to subside infection and pain. Maintain hygiene of oral cavity. You have to follow post op instructions as it will take around 5-7 days to heal wound.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
