Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve been having upper abdominal pain on the left side around the rim of my rib cage. This usually happens if I eat something containing sugar. The only thing that relieves the pressure is a little baking soda and water. I will burp several times and will feel OK for a few hours and may have to repeat the baking soda and water again.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of severe upper abdominal pain. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like gastroenteritis , food poisoning , irritable bowel syndrome , lactose intolerance or electrolyte imbalance. For now eat light and non spicy , avoid food like seafood and nuts , take antacid after every meal and keep your head elevated while lying down . Take a light walk after every meal and also take anaspas for pain. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination. Doctor may order stool test , ultrasound , endoscopy along with that take history. Doctor may prescribe laxative , ornidazole or albendazole along with ranitidine.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
