My 2 year old was throwing up from12am Thurs and couldn t keep anything down.. started her on pedialite same day took her to pediatrician and was told she had stomach flu... was given pills to help vomiting.. Friday she threw up really had no appetite..but drank fluids.. Sat she ate.. apples.. soup.. light food.. today she had been soaking her diapers heavily! Been thru 4 heavily soaked diapers within the last 6 hours and she is throwing up.. now she is napping. Should I try feeding her and fluids or should I go to the hospital.. I m worried she is losing too many fluids
Hello! Thank you for your query. In children, vomiting may be a sign of an acute urinary tract infection, since she didn't pass out loose stools, it is a possibility. I suggest you bring her immediately to the emergency department as she is not able to drink fluids and is persistently vomiting, this is a danger sign because it may possibly lead to dehydration. Let her have frequent sips of water/pedialyte for the meantime and bring her as soon as possible to the ER to be hydrated and for laboratory work up such as urinalysis and complete blood count.
Hope this helps, a feedback is appreciated, Thank you!
