Suggest Treatment For Sharp Chest Pain

i am a 30 year old female and for the past month or so i have been getting chest pain that feels like being stabbed by a knife. the pain is located where my right breast meets the breast bone. just little closer to the breast though. i take anxiety med depression and high blood pressure medication. i have been on the blood pressure med for a few years now but the other two i just started last week ans the pain has been happening before that. Some times it happens when i get stressed but this one that just hit me took my breath and made me feel light headed and all i was doing was watching a show online and relaxing. Please help!!!! my mom has heart issues and my dad had a heart attack in his forties.

Greetings Madam.
I'm glad that i am able to guide you regarding discomfort felt as CHEST PAIN.
My opinion after reading your query is that since the chest pain felt like stabbing, took your breath(as per your details) along with risk factors of hypertension(on medication)-Stress-Family History of heart problem, it could most possibly a CARDIAC(heart) related attack.
But i want to know:
1. Why are you taking "ANXIETY & DEPRESSION MEDICINE"(as per your details)?
2.Was it a self medication or any doctor prescribed it?
3. If so are you under treatment for Psychiatric condition also?
Why i am asking was that such medicine should not be taken without proper Doctor prescription as they themselves have their own side effect on each individual viz.,respiratory depression(here as you've mentioned "TOOK MY BREATH").

Though it may be of cardiac type pain, it's necessary to rule out other NON-CARDIAC causes also viz., Muscular-Lung-GastroIntestinal problem etc.,

Well Usually the first part of the evaluation of chest pain includes obtaining an ECG/EKG & a review of the recent history of events prior to the onset of the chest pain.

The treatment proceeds differently for Cardiac&Non-Cardiac causes.

So my best advise for your betterment is that visit a doctor at the earliest, get examined & do necessary investigation to know exact reason behind your discomfort & avoid further complication.

Note:
Finally it's just a guidance. Not a definitive treatment as i haven't seen you personally. You've to realize that these are temporary remedies. We don't know what your exact condition is unless we see you personally.Consult your Doctor if you still feel uncomfortable in spite of knowing above possibility.

Hope i guided you right & it helped.

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query. As you are having hypertension and positive family history for ischemic heart disease you should get an ECG and a tread mill test if needed to rule out any cardiac cause. If that is ruled out and you having pain while palpating the area then it is most likely due to costochondritis. For such condition in my patients i treat with anti inflammatory gels of diclofenac or nimusulide for local application.I also give oral tablet of the same if pain is more.If there is no improvement after this then i advise local injection of corticosteroids or anesthetics.Hope this may help you.
Let me know if you have any further query.
