Suggest Treatment For Sharp Pain And Burning Sensation In The Chest

I have been having chest pain for about a week now. Sometimes it is a sharp pain and sometimes it feels like a burning sensation. Just to the left of the center of my chest is where it is painful. Im worried that it might be something with my heart. I hope that it is just a strained muscle but I do not know how to tell the difference. Should I be calling 911 and go to the emergency room or is it something that will heal on its own. I am super scared and having anxiety about it.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The pain and burn in the chest can be related to many medical conditions such as cardiac issues or stomach reflux. I recommend to do an EKG to exclude cardiac issues. Hence, I suggest to go at the emergency room.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
