I have been having dull to sometimes sharp pains in my abdomen for a week now. The location of the pain is roughly where the liver overlaps the stomach, right below the ribs. The pain is not in my stomach as far as I can tell (i.e. is not affected by eating or drinking, no noticeable change in digestion or feces), but it sometimes a slight pain in my left shoulder or in my chest around my heart comes with it. Most of the time the pain feels just like a bad case of the butterflies, in other words it s not really a pain but just an uncomfortable feeling. I just want to know if I need to consult a physician immediately (or go to a hospital) or if I can make an appointment to be checked on in the next week or so.
