Suggest Treatment For Sharp Pain In Foot

I have been experiencing a sharp pain on the top of my left foot about 2 inches from where my bend to ankle starts. It feels like needle pricks, it lasts for 5-6 seconds and its a pain level 6 on a 10 scale. It will stop with no action by me. This has happened maybe 12 times in the last week. Any thoughts?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I would like to suggest
1. X-Ray of the foot (Both AP and PA)
2. Blood Test for rheumatoid factor (RF) and anti-citrullinated protein antibodies.

Meanwhile, if you feel pain, you can take Ibuprofen or Paracetamol. Also, follow these guidelines:
Dispose of your worn-out shoes and switch to a comfortable pair.
Avoid wearing pumps and high heels daily.
Avoid standing for too long or standing on hard surfaces such as concrete. This can strain your muscles and cause foot pain.
Give your feet regular breaks and stretch your toes.
Never ignore any pain arising in the lower back, hips, knees, legs, or foot.
Maintain a healthy body weight to avoid straining your foot. Any doctor can follow you up and give you the next course of treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dipan Samanta, General & Family Physician
