Hello,
Sudden sharp pain in the sternum (middle of the chest) that radiates to the jaws may be indicative of heartburn(
acid reflux or GERD). You can take antacids and PPI's for relief. However, silent
myocardial infarction (
silent heart attack) also has similar symptoms. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a cardiologist, get all lipid function tests, CBC,
Urinalysis, X-Ray, Echo, EKG, stress tests, etc done to detect any developing CAD (coronary artery disease). This is to stay on the safer side. Just relax, rest, avoid stress and anxiety. Stay away from addictions if any. Do regular morning walk. Take adequate sleep.
You can take sublingual nitroglycerine (nitrates relax and widen your blood vessels, allowing more blood to flow to your heart muscle) in case of
chest pain radiating to the arms, jaw.
shortness of breath, cold sweat or
lightheadedness. Call emergency immediately. In the meantime, take small meals multiple times a day, avoid food that causes gastritis, take food that is easily digestible. Avoid oily, junk packaged or frozen food, refined flour, carbs, sugars, trans fat, etc. Take home made food cooked in olive oil. Take cooked veggies, avoid eating it raw.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
