Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of sharp pain in the ears. The probable reason for blocked ear is ear infection , because there is pain . Sometime infection spread to ears through eustachian tube , when upper respiratory track infection is left untreated . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper checkup and treatment . Doctor will examine ear and throat physically and ears with otoscope and rule out causes like wax buildup and temporomandibular problem . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( amoxicillin) at least for 10 days along with anti inflammatory drugs . For now keep your ears dry and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
