Suggest Treatment For Sharp Pain Under The Rib Cage
I ve been having a real sharp pain under my right rib cage, the only way I can get this to feel any better is to vomit and it s almost always vile then it still hurts but not as extreme I ve been taking simethicone 80mg but it doest seem to help anymore it happens bout 3-4 times a week, I also take omeprazole 20mg for my excessive heartburn. I guess my question is can gas pain be hazardous or will it pass with time and exercise?
Meanwhile, antacids like omerperazole before meals can be continued alongwith oral sucralfate as well as mebeveramine and acetaminophen for pain episodes.
If problem persists, may need upper GI endoscopy to rule out any peptic ulcer or gastritis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician

Suggest Treatment For Sharp Pain Under The Rib Cage
Hi, Based on the history you have shared, you should get ultrasound abdomen to look for any correlation of this pain to the liver or gall bladder. You should also get it reviewed by a gastroenterologist or your primary care physician for a detailed abdominal examination for any rebound tenderness or any signs of cholecystitis or pancreatitis.
