I ve been experiencing sharp pains on the bottom of my right foot, as well as the front of my right thigh and back of my right leg. It s not often but enough time to notice. I m wondering if this could be DVT or another condition that I need to seek medical attention for.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Sandhya's Response
Hello Sharp pains in the foot may not indicate DVT. There may be various other causes for the pain. DVT usually presents with severe leg pain along with swelling or other symptoms like local rise in temperature, tenderness, redness and pain mainly in the calf. In case of any suspicion it is best to get a color doppler of the lower limbs, CT venography, D-dimer, complete blood picture and clotting profile - PT/APTT, INR. Sometimes, pain from the back may radiate to the foot. Physical examination of the right lower limb would be needed to rule out other possibilities.
