I had shingles before and I am just getting over my second bout. The first one was around my eye but this time I had it over my knee all the way to my foot. Now, I did not see very many blisters but now that its almost over, there are dark blotches all around my leg and foot. There is still a lot of pain all the way to my hip and syatic (do not know how to spell it). Why the dark blotches rather than red/pink ones. My Dr. does not recommend that I take the preventive shot because he feels that because I had it, this will prevent it to appear again.

Suggest Treatment For Shingles
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. It is normal to have dark blotches after herpes zoster. You might be developing post inflammatory hyperpigmentation after shingles. Take Tramadol for pain. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
