Suggest Treatment For Shooting Pain Across Chest Along With Tightness
Hi Dr Rynne, I am having shooting pain across my chest, randomly and general tightness - got worse this arvo. Right across it, pain on sides under arms - randomly. I am on 2nd lot of antibiotics for chesty head cold and I feel like that is clearing up. But I have been feeling quite unwell last few days. ON Friday (2 days ago) I had 2 lots of neurofen plus for bad headache and unusual mild pain and stiffnesss down right arm. I am a teacher and have just finished a hectic term, and my father passed away in May so I think I am prob just run down and the holidays have arrived on time, but my chest is unusual. I have had a losec in case about 20 mins ago. My stomach has also felt uncomfortable for about a week, so I have started on some pro-biotics.....so, prob just my body telling me I need a rest or should I get it looked at. (It is a half hour drive to Hamilton A&E as it is Sunday evening...I am not sure if you are in NZ or not) Thanks for your time

Hello, welcome to HCM.Shooting pain and stomach uncomfartable sugessting more of acidity as you are on antibiotic. Please take antacid tablets omez-40mg early morning once in half an hour befor your breakfast for 10 days. Also to rule out cardiac problem please get one simple ECG. I think with this you will be relieved from problems with completed course of antibiotics. Slowly you can do your routine duty if reports comes normal. Take care
