Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Tongue injury while eating may be common in kids especially with kids who are fond of playing with cutleries using their tongues.A simple compression of bleeding vessel with tongue may solve the problem.
Pain in neck with swollen lymph node may not be related to the bleeding vessel. That sounds like a
throat infection. Most of these infections will manifest with tongue
neck pain and adenopathy(swollen lymph node). Most of these infections are of viral origin.Bacteria infection or
superinfection may also be possible. The symptoms could as well be caused by allergy.I will suggest you try the following:
-Give him frequent sips of water
-A pain/anti-inflammatory drug like tylenol
-An anti-
histamine like benadryl
-Gargle with salt water many times per day
-Avoid irritants like dust, smoke and cold
If symptoms persist, you see the Doctor to examine the throat and judge the need for antibiotics
Hope this will help you
Best regards
