Suggest Treatment For Shortness Of Breath, Muscle Pain And Heaviness In The Legs

Thank you, I have been taking labetalol 200 mg for almost 3 weeks. I take 400 mg 2x day. I have had shortness of breath when going up & down stairs, am tired &. My legs feel heavy. I have muscle pain in my arms & legs. The medication has been working very well on my blood pressure, & I do not want to stop taking it. Will the systems subside eventually?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Yes, shortness of breath, low energy are side effects of labetalol. Many times the effect settle in a few days. If for 3 weeks and you still don't feel well, and symptoms not improving then we may need to change the drug.

There are a number of alternative drugs available which may effectively control your BP. So you can discuss it with your doctor to change the drug.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
