Suggest Treatment For Shortness Of Breath While Having Mild Asthma

I am a 70 yr old white male generally in good health (aside from a fractured ankle). I regularly take generic singulair to treat mild asthma. I live in southern California but am visiting NJ. I am experiencing shortness of breath and have a pain in my lower right side that seems to ebb and flow with breathing. I have received pneumonia vaccine (aout 3.5 yrs ago). Any thoughts?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be an exacerbation of asthma. Bronchodilators like levasalbutamol can be taken. You can go for an echo test to rule out cardiac causes even though it is unlikely.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
