Suggest Treatment For Shoulder Pain In A Hypertensive Person
Hi. Im 21 weeks pregnant with history of pre eclampsia and has a high bloodpressure due to hyperthyroidism. Im taking right now Trandate 100mg which normalizes my bp. I always have a bp at 120/70.Lately i have a left shoulder pain and right now i didnt get sleep because of pain. I checked my bp and its 140/90. What should i do? I took paracetamol already but it doesnt help.
Increase in blood pressure could have been caused due to anxiety associated with shoulder pain. It would normalize when your pain reduces.
To reduce pain, you can apply analgesic creams containing Diclofenac over the affected area as a thin layer. You should not run or massage. Take hot water fomentation over the affected region thrice daily. Also, you can continue intake of Paracetamol along with the above measures.
Gradually, your pain should come down and you should be back to normal. In case you are unable to overcome the problem by taking the above measures, you may need physiotherapy. Hence, you need to consult Orthopedician for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Ashakiran S,
