Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been taking Budesinide for some 6 months for Lichen Planus in the oesophagus and I am experiencing some side effects and reducing the dose to get off it. My muscles have been severely affected and are painful and very weak so that I can barely walk now. my left leg is most affected. i want to know precisely what Budesinide does to the muscles as they are not recovering quickly, although some pain and wide distribution of muscles affected have reduced. Can you help me to find out this info? I don t think you will be able to give me a useful answer.
For esophageal lichen planus, your treating doctor had appropriately advised you therapy with budesonide. After taking it for a long time, chances of developing certain side effects are common. Mostly joint pain is common and body tiredness also common. For reducing side effect, you had already started low dose.
I would advise you to drink lots of water, at least 4 to 5 litres per day that will eliminate drug molecules quickly and have less impact. If it still worsens then contact a nearby physician.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nirav Nimavat,
