Suggest Treatment For Side Effects Of Celebrex

Hi, I have been taking Celebrex approx 1 month and I ve developed a rash on parts of my body, red bumpy spots almost blister like, I am on meds for RA, but I m fairly sure this is a result of the Celebrex..nothing else new has been in my system..my question is , and of course I will stop the Celebrex, but will this rash subside on its own or is there something I should be doing to counteract this reaction,ie Benadryl or?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, it can be benign drug eruption secondary to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like celecoxib or cerebrix and needs to be reviewed by a dermatologist.

Meanwhile, OTC analgesics like acetaminophen and antihistamines like cetirizine or loratadine may be helpful.

Topical steroids may be needed as well for a quicker recovery but the most immediate step after drug-related side effects is to withdraw the offending drug immediately.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
