Suggest Treatment For Side Effects Of Co-amoxiclav?

My father had a fever and when we consulted a doctor, he was treated with co-amoxiclav because my father had an infection in the blood based on the blood chem. After taking 5 tablets of the amoclav, his legs becomes swollen and he experiences itchiness in his body. How long will thais side effect last?

Hello, Thanks for the quer.
It looks like he may have developed an allergic reaction to the given antibiotic. So it is essential that the drug is stopped immediately. He may be given an antihistaminic like Cetirizine or Levocetirizine once a day for 4 to 5 days. That reaction will subside. but stopping the drug immedietly is a must. Plus in future the same compound (amoxycillin + clavulanic acid) should not be given to him, as there can be a severe reaction. Thanks
